Pelican Case now offers an Ipod case. It is a "watertight" (may be waterproof down to 50 feet) container for an Ipod. If you have any normal small mp3 player it should fit. The unit has
an earphone jack going through the case that you can plug up earphones or a waterproof speaker to. I recommend also siliconing the connection to prevent rust. They have been spotted on the shelves at Academy Sports and Outdoors. Check it out here: Micro i1010 Case
Slowly but surely manufacturers are releasing more colors and sizes for coolers.
Here is our wish list:
- 4 to 8 can holders built into the upper part of the non-lid part of the cooler, so you have a safe place to set your can down while you open the lid at the same time (and while the entire bottom half of the cooler is crammed into a toob
- lid locks that can hold the lid closed when the cooler is jam-packed FULL and a rapid turns the entire thing upside down
- attachment points (hooks, hoops, cirlces) to where we can securely tie the cooler to a toob or the back of a truck
Igloo has a 48 quart sqaure cooler out called "Ice Cube". Check your local shops, around here, I found that each shop had it's own version and many were not listed on the website.
Cool Float is a self-floating cooler, just perfect for the people who toob alone. It has can holders built in. It even has a hook to teather onto so it doesn't float away. Cool Float is NOT an inflateable! It is available in two sizes and obtainable from many retail shops. Search the web for the best price. Beachcomber.com has a nice selection of this and other self-floating coolers at this page.
Lazy Dayz is a toob that has a built-in headrest and a built-in 6 pack cooler in the tube. As to whether this toob is river/creek durable, we're still waiting on the verdict.
Saw a new inflatable tube shaped for a rectangular cooler. Looks like a decent product unless you toob along a more shallow river where you regularly hit rocks on bottom. You would slide a cooler into it and a mesh fabric keeps it from falling through.
Your local outfitters offer floaties for glasses, hats, waterproof containers for money/keys. Many also offer food and drinks to pack into your cooler.
